If there’s anything that 25-year old screenwriter and novelist Gilbert Bassey could add to Africa’s creative film and television industry, it would be vision and craftsmanship.
Born in Cross River in Nigeria, Gilbert has a passion for books and writing. Gilbert is also a musician under the name Gillian Bacci.
According to him, it is a good story that makes a good film, which is why he would opt to create a spellbinding TV show about the first Nigerian revolution if he had the chance. It’s no surprise then that his dream career would be to create fantasy to influence people’s emotions and illuminate the truth.
Gilbert’s favourite films include Swiss Army Man, The Dark Knight, The World’s End, and favourite TV show is Just For Laugh Gagsbut in moderation. He hopes to gain knowledge, experience and connections while at the MultiChoice Talent Factory Academy.
His favourite books include How Emotions Are Made, Sapiens, Predictably Irrational, and The Lord of The Ringstrilogy, the Harry Potterseries and 1984. The Wisdom of Insecurityby Alan Watts is particularly special book for him because it illuminated life in a way that made it infinitely easier for him to live in serenity.
