Indogesit ‘Amber’ Peter is a 22-year-old writer that admires the consistent driving spirit that African creatives have. This fuels her aims to contribute more meaningfully towards the continent’s creative film and television industry.
“I’m interested in using my creative talent to tell quality African stories that would not only create awareness on the issues we face, but would preserve our rich heritage, and make our culture socially acceptable outside our continent,” says Indogesit.
Born in Calabar, Nigeria, Indogesit holds a BSc in Computer Science, but she is currently living her dream career as a writer. She is however also passionate about presenting, which is why she believes that Africa’s film and television industry holds a promising future for her.
Of the many African film creatives in the industry, Indogesit looks up to Nigerian screenwriter Tunde Babalola. This is because his work has raised the standard and quality in the industry, and has also been instrumental in shaping the quality of scriptwriting in Africa through mentorship.
According to Indogesit, the biggest challenge in Africa’s creative film and television Industry is the lack of funding and investment to support quality content and talented creatives.
By being a part of the MultiChoice Talent Factory Academy, she hopes to bridge this particular gap by collaborating with creatives who share her vision. Indogesit would also take advantage of the opportunities that come with digitalisation in order to tell stories.
