Isiko Abubaker is a 25-year-old Ugandan filmmaker with a passion for storytelling.
Born in Mayuge, Abubaker also has a keen interest in bodybuilding and martial arts. His favourite film is 1984 American sci-fi action film Terminator 1, and his favourite actors are Idris Elba and David Oyelowo, who are both English and Nigerian. As an upcoming creative, he hopes to sharpen his camera and sound skills during his tenure at the MultiChoice Talent Factory, and is highly optimistic about African film and television. The chance to be a part of the Class of 2019 has come at an opportune time for him, as he believes that Africa still has more stories that are yet to be unearthed.
“I think the future is bright because film [is becoming] an adopted culture, and there is always improvement every time you watch an African film or television show. A good example is the Nigerian film industry,” says Abubaker.
