Daphne Mawuse Atsutse is a 25-year-old Ghanaian producer and director on the pursuit towards becoming a scriptwriter and director.
“Africans have beautiful untold stories which even when told are hardly told by the African for the African or from the African perspective. There is a revolution and it is going to change the African narrative as the world knows it,” says Atsutse, who holds a BA in Theatre Arts from the University of Ghana.
She looks up to Ghanaiana actor Adjetey Annan for his ability to superbly embody the characters he plays, and is also a fan of American actor Ryan Reynolds.
Some of her favourite films include Samuel 'Blitz' Bazawule's The Burial of Kojo, Stella Meghie's Everything Everything and Colin Trevorrow’s Book of Henry.
As part of the MultiChoice Talent Factory Academy’s Class of 2019, Atsutse hopes to add unique perspective on what constitutes entertainment, and is grateful for a chance to learn from other creatives within the industry. Alongside film and TV, Atsutse is also passionate about art.
