Allen ‘Blackboi’ Onyige is a 26-year-old cinematographer that is passionate about music videos. Born in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, his dream job is to be a film director.

If Allen could create a TV show, it would showcase the various lifestyles of Africans across the continent in a bid to spotlight the rich cultural values available. Allen’s favourite place in the world also happens to be in the continent - in South Africa.

The Ogbege Showis one of his favourite TV shows, and Law Abiding Citizenis his favourite film. Allen’s favourite actor is Kevin Hart, whom he favours because of Hart’s multi-talented nature. He also admires Nigerian director Kemi Adetiba particularly for the level of creativity that she puts into her films. He also admires Nigerian actor OC Ukeje.

For Allen, it’s a good story, good visuals and good sound that make a strong film, and also believes that the biggest challenge facing Africa’s creative film and TV industry is a lack of budget and professional equipment. As a student of the MultiChoice Talent Factory Academy, he hopes to gain more exposure in order to bridge this gap.

“We [in the industry] hardly plan before we shoot. With the right crew and adequate planning the gap can be bridged,” adds Allen.
