Chimwemwe Mkwezalamba is a 21-year-old future filmmaker and leader passionate about women’s empowerment. “My dream career is being a successful and famous female film director,” says the Lilongwe, Malawi-born creative. Despite an education background in banking and project management, Chimmy, as she is nicknamed, is excited about a future in the creative arts. “At the Multichoice Talent Factory, I look forward to learning from the best creatives on the continent with the hope that one day I will be able to contribute to the African film industry.”
Another opportunity Chimwemwe says being part of MTF affords is that the space promises to “provide me with the skills necessary to take African stories and traditions and to bring them to life in a skilled and creative way to share with the world. And says that what she could add to the industry is “originality in terms of ideas and concepts, creativity and diversity”.
