Christine Wanjiku is a 23-year-old Kenyan filmmaker based in Nairobi, with the dream of becoming one of the best film editors in Africa, alongside owning her own film production company.

Her favourite African film starts include legendary Nigerian actress Patience Ozokwor and British-Nigerian actor Idris Elba. Wanjiku’s favourite shows are Cake Boss, Our Perfect Wedding and Maisha Magic East telenovela Selina. When it comes to Africa’s creative industry, a big concern for Wanjiku is the need for more support for local content, and hopes that the skills she acquires during her tenure at the MultiChoice Talent Factory Academy will provide a platform of idea exchange alongside her academy counterparts from all over the continent.

Wanjiku is equally passionate about volunteer work, and if given the chance to create a TV show, she would use it as a platform for creative short films made by young creatives. “I believe that young creatives have beautiful and amazing stories, but don’t have a place to air them. This could be their chance. I can be a bridge by getting their stories and being able to present them to the world,” says Wanjiku.
