If 21-year-old Kenyan film enthusiast Maurice Muendo Musyoki had the chance to create a TV show, his would be a reality show with a focus on individuals that made a success of themselves despite severe hardship. For Musyoki, this sort of show can go a long way towards inspiring young Kenyans living in difficult circumstances. He is also eager to refine his storytelling talent while at the MultiChoice Talent Factory Academy.

“Film industry and television is improving a lot in terms technology advancement, creativity, collaboration with other countries and exchanging of ideas. I am hoping to build my career, get exposure also to build friends at [the academy and] exchange ideas about film,” says Musyoki.

His favourite African film stars are Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Wairimu, and Edi Gathegi, and his favourite films include Rafiki, Nairobi Half Life, The Hate You Give, Sarafina and The Lion King. Besides film, Musyoki is also passionate about business, and hopes to add originality, flavour and more indigenous languages to Africa's video entertainment industry.
