If given the chance to create a TV show, 30-year-old Nigerian animation director and design manager Abisola Oladimeji Aboaba’s would focus on a pre-colonial Africa, and exploring the continent’s rich culture and traditions at the time.

With qualifications from both the National Film and Television School from the United Kingdom and from the University Of Lagos, it’s this very passion to retell the continent’s past and present that drive’s Aboaba’s desire to become a film producer and director, and tell the continent’s stories through animation.

“Currently there are no many African inspired animated films for kids and I intend to fill this gap, [and] to further explore untold and unique ideas, concepts and myths that showcase the beauty and diversity of the African people,” says Aboaba.

His favourite films include Nigerian actors Ramsey Nouah, Richard Mofe Damijo, and actresses Akintola and Joke Silva.

During his tenure at the MultiChoice Talent Factory Academy, Aboaba hopes to become a full-equipped film producer, director and entrepreneur, and to also benefit from the exposure to top talent in the African creative film and TV industry.
