bio

I'm all about creative expression, passion, enthusiasm, hard work and continuous learning. As Bob Dylan once said: "If you're not busy learning, you're busy dying".I come from an art background, and am a natural storyteller. I paint visual narratives with my camera.

I currently work on a freelance basis. I also worked for 10 years as a Studio Camera Operator at CNBC Africa.I am experienced in using Grassvalley LDK300, Panasinic P2HD and Sony BVP950P cameras. That's not all.I am also a Jony Jib Operator and Studio Floor Manager.I am also a native Spanish speaker, and am also fluent in French.I can therefore do translations for all kinds of productions.I also wrote my first article for the November 2018 issue of Screen Africa Magazine, and have copies that are available upon request.

I am highly creative.I have a thirst for knowledge, and am naturally inquisitive and observant.I am inspired by the world around me, and am fascinated by people, their cultures and their stories.I also enjoy collaborating with others. I have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and work well within a team.I have high energy levels, and can work long and unusual hours.Although I am as organised and precise as the Tokyo subway system, I also thrive on challenges, and can swim like an Olympian when thrown into the deep end. This is particularly true when I'm working on live broadcasts.I thoroughly enjoy the thrill and pace of working in a news broadcasting environment.Whoever says that news camerawork is boring hasn't been in studio when there's breaking news of a parliament cabinet reshuffle!

What am I looking for? The small size of the South African film and TV industries is often seen as a drawback, but I believe that it affords crew members opportunities to work on a wider variety of productions and broaden their skills sets.I am committed to perfecting my craft in every aspect, and I'm open to all types of productions, including:

1) OB broadcasts: sports and events

2) Soap operas and dramas

3) ENG camera operation and video journalism: I would like to finish what I started, and ontinue growing as an ENG camera operator.Somewhere inside of me, there is a budding journalist who cares deeply about the truth, and who has an endless catalogue of stories to tell.I suppose that once you've been bitten by the news bug, it never really goes away.Somwhere in the hopefuly not-too-distant future, I see myself shooting and reporting my own stories and inserts

4) Documentaries and feature films

5) I am ideally looking for formal mentorships, but would also strongly consider informal ones

6) I'm also looking to be trained as an editor

7) I would love to learn more about script writing for feature films and dramas
