About Zethu’s Tales:
Mbalizethu Zulu is the owner, writer and producer. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Johannesburg.
Career highlights include:
1. Being one of top 12 graduates in South Africa selected to be a part of the Magic in Motion Academy, now known as the Multichoice Talent Factory.
2. Shortly after graduation from the Magic In Motion Academy, she was appointed as one of the writers of award-winning soap, Isibaya.
3. In her young career, she has been nominated for three SAFTA (South African Film and Television Awards),
4. Her short film “Nompilo” which she wrote and directed was selected and screened at ‘The Durban International Film Festival’;
5. She was chosen as one of ten females for the NFVF Female Only Filmmaker’s Project headed by Blingola Media (the NFVF is the statutory body created in terms of the National Film and Video Foundation Act No 73 of 1997),
6. She is one of the founding members of A Tribe Called Story and successfully produced and wrote on ten movies and headwrote a 13-part drama series (Impilo: The Scam),
7. She was storyliner and Scriptwriter on Erfsondes Season 3
8. Impilo:The Scam was rated 8.3/10 on TVSA.
9. She & her business partner won the Multichoice Digital Challenge under Melanin Rose Films.
Mbalizethu has a desire to tell authentic South African stories that unite and instill hope within us. She wants to tell stroies that celebrate the human journey, life and spirit. She was the heart of storytelling at Melanin Rose Films and A Tribe Called Story before she decided to start her own company (Zethu’s Tales.)
